Need to attract investment in South Khorasan mining sector
(Minews) - Although the desert land of South Khorasan is now facing water shortage, it possesses great blessings ad rich mineral reserves that can result in the development of the entire province.
Using the capacities of rich mines in South Khorasan under the condition in which droughts have deprived agriculture and livestock breeding of prosperity can be considered an important factor in the overall development of the province and removal of deprivation from the area.
According to economists now the definite amount of mineral reserves in South Khorasan Province is about 1.5 billion tons.
President Hassan Rouhani in the framework of the provincial inspection tour of the 11th government made promising remarks at the gathering of the people of South Khorasan. He promised them implementation of a number of important projects in the field of development and economic growth in the province especially in the mining industry in the next few years.
Hadi Eshraqi, a deputy at the Industry, Mines and Trade Department of South Khorasan said currently the province holds 395 exploitation permits, 122 certificates of exploitation and 356 mines with a reserve of over 1.5 billion tons.
He said possessing 40 mineral substances is among other capabilities of mining reserves in South Khorasan and so far 60 mineral substances have been identified throughout the county.
Referring to the purchase of raw mineral materials he said in order to prevent such a measure establishment of processing units, advanced stone cutting and downstream steel and copper units are essential.
