Port Hedland iron ore shipments down 4.2% in January
(Minews) - Australia’s Port Hedland delivered 28.23 million tonnes of iron ore in January, according to data released by the Port Hedland Port Authority.

Shipments during the month represent a 4.2% decline from those recorded in December 2013.

China received 23.31 million tonnes of iron ore from the Australian port in January, down 3.5% from levels seen a month ago.

Exports to Japan totalled 1.43 million tonnes, down 30.9% from December, while those to South Korea increased by 35.6% to 2.74 million tonnes.

Iron ore shipments to Taiwan amounted to 597,283 tonnes in January, up 41.3% month-on-month.
