Rio named WA's best employer
(Minews) - Resources companies have scooped the pools as WA’s most attractive employers at the annual Randstad Award in Perth this morning.

Rio Tinto has been voted WA’s most attractive employer with Woodside Petroleum claiming second prize and Newcrest Mining third.

A survey of 1215 WA workers found 55 per cent wanted to work for the global mining giant.

It is the second year Rio has claimed the award after winning the title in 2012.

Randstad employment market analyst Steve Shepherd said Rio Tinto should be extremely proud to be recognised as WA’s most attractive employer, firmly cementing its place as one of the country’s best places to work.

“Rio Tinto’s strong perception in the eyes of the public shows employers if they invest in developing a great culture, a great organisation and a great workplace, it will be recognised not just by employees, but the wider community,” said Shepherd.

Rio was feted for providing excellent salary and employee benefits, career progression opportunities and good training. Rio Tinto also stood out as having strong management and being financially healthy.

Mining also won the award for the most attractive industries to work for in WA, followed by aviation and oil and gas.

First launched in Belgium in 2000, the Randstad Award will be hosted in 23 countries around the world this year.

Randstad is a global recruitment and human resources company.
