Foreign companies welcome participation in Iran’s coal projects
(Minews) - Managing Director of Central Alborz Coal Company said Iran’s talks with 5+1 have changed international conditions as such that today foreign companies, European in particular, are according warm welcome to cooperation with Iran in the field of coal.

Speaking to reporters in Savadkouh, Ravanbakhsh Amiri said a German Company has recently announced readiness for cooperation in the reconstruction and renovation of the old coal washing factory in the region and has offered its technical and economic proposals.

The official further added that after the required study and in case of desirability of the proposal cooperation will be launched.

He said coal exploitation in Central Alborz is based on traditional methods which is one of the difficulties for activities in this sector while through cooperation with foreign companies modern technologies can be used.

He said monthly 9 to 10 thousand tons of coal is transferred on rail to Isfahan Steel Mill for coke production, adding that Zarand of Kerman also receives the same amount from the company through surface transportation.

Amiri pointed to the establishment of a coal washing factory with an annual capacity of 500 thousand tons, a coke factory with a capacity of 300 thousand tons and a thermal recycle power station with the generation of 25 megawatt electricity as plans underway which are compatible with the environment.

The headquarters of Central Alborz Coal Company is situated 48 km south of Qaemshahr in Savadkouh region. The Central Alborz coal zone expands on the northern slops of Alborz Mountains in an area of 30 thousand square km.

Central Alborz Coal Company is affiliated to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Company, also known as IMIDRO.
