Minews - Exports of Isfahan Mubarakeh Steel Complex up 45%

(Minews) - Over 1.5 million tons, worth $700 million, of Isfahan Mubarakeh Steel Complex's products have been exported during the last Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2015), it was reported on Sunday.

The figure indicates an increase of 45 percent in terms of weight compared with the same period the previous year.

Over 50 percent of the products have been exported to the European markets and the rest to the Middle East and East Asia.

The company is also expected to export over two million tons of its products during the current Iranian calendar year which started on March 21, 2015.

According to the latest figures released by the World Steel Association (WSA) in January 2015, Iran topped steel producers in the Middle East in 2014.

The volume of Iran's steel production reached 16.331 million tons in 2014, showing a 5.9 percent increase compared with the same period in 2013 when the amount stood at 15.422 million tons, the report added.

Iran also ranked 14th among major steel producing countries in the world.
