Iran's concentrated copper output surpasses 728,000 tons in 11 months
 
(Minews) - The Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) announced that concentrated copper produced in the 11 months of current Iranian calendar year by three companies reached 728,600 tons.

The figure showed a one percent growth compared to the same period last year.

According to IMIDRO, over the past 11 months more than 211.6 tons of anode and over 176.7 tons of cathode were produced by two Sarcheshmeh and Midouk copper companies, registering increases of 2 and 3 percent growth respectively in comparison to the corresponding period last year.

Extracted materials from copper mines of Sarcheshmeh, Soungon and Midouk in the past 11 months stood at 149, 379 and 133 tons, which in comparison to the same period last year showed a 19 percent growth.

Also in the past 11 months, 40,105 tons of slabs, blooms and billets as well as 5,380 tones of concentrated molybdenum and 498 tons of gold and silver sludge were produced by Sarcheshmeh copper company and 617 tons of molybdenum produced by Soungon Copper Company.

According to reports, five percent of the world's copper reserves are located in Iran, with Sarcheshmeh copper mine holding an estimated reseves of 2,100 million tons.

It is to be noted that by executing the second phases of development plan at Soungon mine (East Azarbaijan province) and Sarcheshmeh mine in Kerman province, production of concentrated copper would increase by 300,000 tons.
