New gold mine discovered in northeastern Iran
(Minews) - Iran announced that it has discovered a new gold mine in the Northeastern Province of Khorassan Razavi.

Head of the Province's Trade Organization, Razziyeh Alirezayee, said on Tuesday that the gold mine with 889,000  tons of goldstones was discovered in the outskirts of the city of Kashmar, some 217 km South of the provincial capital of Mashhad.

She went on to say that some 1.4 billion rials were spent on the discovery operation as part of the mine exploration operations underway in the province.

According to statistical figures released by the Central Intelligence Agency, Iran ranks 22nd in terms of the gold reserves worldwide.
