(Minews) - Vice President of Iranian Iron Ore Producers and Exporters Association (IRIOPEX) warned that Iran may become iron ore importer in the near future.

Pointing to current surplus in domestic market, Bahram Shakoury said right now we face iron ore pellet shortfall due to policies of previous government in imposing duties on concentrate and pellet so that we have to import it.

He added that we witness repeating same miske today by decision of government to impose duties on iron ore export.

“If current situation continues, there would be no incentive to invest in iron ore industry, threatening the country to become iron ore importer in the next few years”, stated Vice President of IRIOPEX.
