(Minews) - A contract to build Sirjan's combined cycle power plant was signed by managing directors of National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO), Kermanian Power Group and Iran Power Plant Projects Management Company (MAPNA).

The investment for the project valued at 285 million euros, said managing director of NICICO, Ahmad Morad Alizadeh during the ceremony for signing the contract.

He added the power plant will not only meet the region's electricity needs, but also its surplus can be used in other production units.

He went on to say NICICO prefers to provide electricity from formal entities, namely energy ministry and private companies.

"Copper Pension Fund's companies hold 100 percent share of Kermanian Power Group, so it has been decided that in the trilateral contract between NICICO as consumer, Kermanian Power Group as energy seller and MAPNA as contractor, we supply needed electricity", said Ahmad Morad Alizadeh.

Capacity of the project is 492 MW and can be expanded to 1000 MW.
